Offset is recovering after a shooting outside a Florida casino earlier this week, with representatives confirming Friday that the rapper has been discharged from the hospital and is now on his feet. The incident unfolded Monday night at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, just north of Miami, following an altercation that escalated into gunfire. Authorities said his injuries were not life-threatening, and by Tuesday, his team had already indicated he was in stable condition.
By the end of the week, Offset’s condition had improved significantly. A spokesperson confirmed that he had been released and was “up and walking,” expressing gratitude to the medical staff who oversaw his care. The rapper, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, also addressed fans directly, sharing a message of appreciation and resilience. “Thank you to everyone who’s checked in on me and showed me love,” he wrote, adding that his focus is now on family, recovery, and returning to music. Reflecting on the experience, he described life as “a gamble,” emphasizing both its setbacks and small victories.
The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing. Police detained two individuals at the scene. Among them was Tione Jayden Merritt, professionally known as Lil Tjay, who was arrested in connection with the altercation preceding the shooting. He faces charges of disorderly conduct and driving without a valid license. A second individual was also detained, though no charges have been filed, and authorities continue working to identify others potentially involved.
Offset rose to prominence as a member of Migos, the Atlanta trio widely credited with shaping modern trap through their signature triplet flow. The group achieved global success with chart-topping hits like Bad and Boujee, as well as “Stir Fry” and “Narcos,” releasing four studio albums over the course of their career. Their influence remains deeply embedded in contemporary hip-hop.
The shooting also arrives against a backdrop of personal and collective loss for the artist. More than three years ago, Offset’s cousin and fellow Migos member Takeoff was fatally shot in Houston, a tragedy that reshaped the group’s trajectory.
Beyond his work with Migos, Offset has built a solo career defined by a distinctive blend of melody and aggression, releasing three full-length albums. His personal life has also remained in the spotlight, particularly his relationship with Cardi B. The pair, who married privately in 2017, share three children. In 2024, Cardi B confirmed she had filed for divorce.
As Offset continues his recovery, the focus now shifts to both the ongoing investigation and his eventual return to music—an outcome he has already signaled remains firmly in sight.
